Real Treatment For Substance Use Disorders.
Real Treatment For Substance Use Disorders.
We don't require economies of scale in order to be successful. We are in large part employee owned and our founder is on site every day. We do not answer to corporate interests nor investor driven necessities. We are not constrained by the demands of insurance companies whose model for successful business operations forces denial of a certain percentage of services rendered. We do not play the insurance game wherein a center will announce to the world that they accept insurance, when, in fact, only some of their services are covered by insurance, but rarely all, so the client may have larger out of pocket expenses when all is said and done; than he would pay for our services. Partly because we don't accept insurance we are able to keep overall costs down.
When full, we enjoy a staff/client ration of 1/2. Our treatment programs are intentional, client centered, planful interventions tailored to the assessed needs of individuals and adjusted based on their responses to treatment as they progress through their program. We understand addiction as a chronic, progressive disorder, and we recognize that effective practice demands that intervention be more about individualized Recovery Initiation than about one size fits all treatment. When a facility has a staff to client ratio of 1 to 16 to meet state licensing requirements or even 1 to 10 they are incapable of a truly client centered or individualized approach. When every client is undergoing the same treatment as every other client which economies of scale and insurance authorizations for care sometimes demand; there is no way that individual needs can be honestly addressed.
As mentioned, when we're at maximal capacity our staff to client ratio is 1 to 2. Our census is deliberately small yet large enough for effective group work and group support. Much of what we do comes down to individualized work in trauma recovery, group and individual counseling and spiritual direction, and 12 step work. All, are very labor and time intensive efforts. All require very experienced practitioners. The average time in practice of our staff is 30+years. Many of our staff came out of retirement to work on this project because we are committed to enhancing residential care.
We are not raking in the profits of a smoothly functioning cash machine nor do we want to. We work on the principle of attraction rather than promotion. Our success is grounded in the healing resultant from the spiritual transformation of and deep connection between clients and between staff and clients. Kerby Stewart, MD
